FOLIO TRAVELOGUE
Mud, Aloha, and a View of Forever
We showed up not knowing what to expect—just that it was something with ATVs, animals, and “planting something.” But from the moment we turned off Waialua Beach Road and stepped onto the red dirt, it felt different. Not commercial. Not dressed up. Just real people on a real farm that’s been here for generations. They handed us helmets, goggles, and the option to choose a plant—a native one—to help restore the coast. It was small but meaningful, and somehow set the tone.
Then came the fun part. We got matched with our ATVs (they had different sizes for teens and adults), and after a safety video and a quick test run, we were off—buzzing across wide open land with the Pacific just beyond. You could smell salt in the air, hear the wind, and feel the red earth kick up behind you. We stopped at lookout points, let it sink in. The ride wasn’t about speed—it was about being in it.
“Not a tourist trap—just an hour of life in Hawaii, where fun meets roots.”
Midway through, we rolled into the animal section of the farm—goats that nuzzled your hand, pigs snorting near the fence, a cow that looked like it knew things. Our guide shared stories about the farm and the land, and it didn’t feel like a script. It felt like someone proud to share what they’re a part of.
By the end, we were dusty, smiling, and a little more grounded. We’d played. We’d learned. We’d helped a little. Not a tourist trap—just an hour of life in Hawaii, where fun meets roots.
