FOLIO TRAVELOGUE
A Day That Slipped into Memory
We boarded Island Jewel mid-morning, shoes off at the dock, coffee still in hand. Honolulu was behind us before I even noticed. The breeze picked up as the sails went up, and just like that we were slicing through blue. Not a tour vibe, not a crowded boat—this felt like ours for the day. Someone put on music, someone else uncorked a bottle. The city faded.
The catamaran itself? Honestly, kind of a dream. You’ve got space to spread out—loungers at the front, shade in the back, clean bathrooms (yes, plural), and a little kitchen where the crew keeps snacks coming. When we dropped anchor near a quiet reef, they handed us snorkel gear and said, "Take your time." I did. I floated. I watched a parrotfish gnaw a chunk out of coral. I forgot what time it was.
"Not a tour vibe, not a crowded boat—this felt like ours for the day."
Back on deck, there was fruit, soft drinks, and that lazy vibe that only happens after swimming in warm water. We stretched out, talked about nothing, took too many photos, laughed at how we were supposed to do something productive today. And then the crew asked—sunset sail or head in now? We stayed.
By the time we turned back toward the harbor, the light had shifted to that golden, cinematic tone that makes everything feel like a movie. It wasn't a long trip, not really. But it felt huge. Like we’d stepped into another version of our lives for a few hours. The kind where time slows down and everything tastes better.
